Thought of the day...

Good Morning,

Public schools today must respond to an ever-increasing diverse student population. Should the nation's schools be asked to address the issue of diversity? Where is one to begin this journey other than by attempting to examine a common language or definition of the term diversity? The mere attempt to define diversity is problematic in nature as questions abound on the plausibility of an agreed upon definition. The more one examines the issue of diversity the more complex and more philosophical the discourse becomes. Does diversity refer to ethnicity, gender, socio-economics or sexual orientation? The agreement regarding a definition is a discourse in and of it self.

Have a blessed day,

Thought of the day...

Good Evening,

Research shows the United States is losing ground in education, as peers across the globe zoom by with bigger gains in student achievement and school graduations, a study shows. That compared with their peers in Europe, Asia and elsewhere, 15-year-olds' in the United States are below average in applying math skills to real-life tasks. Edwards Educational Consulting "Collaborative Learning Community" model accentuates modification to current practices by definition of; It’s a philosophy as well as a place; it’s a way of being as well as a cultivation model; it’s a mindset as well as an ethical road map for excellence.

Thought of the day; let’s examine 'Waiting for Superman'

Good afternoon followers,
There are major forums all over America, from the Oprah Winfrey show to church basements about America’s malfunctioning public education system. My questions are; when did this become a matter of urgency? Who allowed this system of learning to continue to decay without noticing the putrefying influence and why must we look towards a make believe super hero as the savior in a system that with all his super power ability, he couldn't effect the outcome needed to really address the American public education system. Below is the description of a documentary of the latest conversations. What’s your opinion?
'Waiting for Superman' is a documentary about America’s malfunctioning education system. The American public school system is in crisis, failing millions of students, producing as many drop-outs as graduates, and threatening our economic future.

Quote of the Day

Truly knowing thy self is the power one needs to hold on to endure the resistance of the fearful, this is the eminence of a winner. Your greatest glory is in never failing, but in rising stronger and more knowledgeable every time you fail. All great achievements require time and persistence. Endurance is the crowning attribute of success.

Vantage point

You are the smartest person in the world in your own special
way. You see life from a perspective that is all your own.

There is great value in all you know, in the things that
interest you, and in the experiences you've accumulated.
Think of all the ways you can put that unique and
irreplaceable value to good use.

See each challenge as an opportunity to be creative. Look
for what you can do to contribute something positive.

Though there are many forces beyond your control, there is
always much that you can do. And life at its best is about
making a difference.

Conditions change from day to day and year to year, yet
there is something you'll always have. You can look at life
from your own unique vantage point, decide what must be
done, and take effective action.

In this way you can transform it all into treasures that
you'll hold dear. Be you, and be a light that shines
brightly.

Quote of the Day

"Some people make things happen, some watch things happen, & there are those who wonder what has happened. Which one are you?"

"It's ok to Quit......"

1. Quit arguing with people about the same old foolishness! Respect
their position and keep it moving!

2. Quit telling people your secrets when you know they are not going to
keep them! And if you keep telling them, then quit getting mad when they
tell your secrets!

3. Quit trying to pull people on your journey who don't want to travel
with you. Either they believe in you and value you...or they don't!

4. Quit complaining about things you can't and won't change!

5. Quit gossiping about other people! Minding our own business should be
a full time job!

6. Quit blaming each other for things that in the big picture aren't
going to matter three weeks from now! Talk solutions...and then
implement them!

7. Quit eating things you know are not good for you! If you can't
quit....eat smaller portions!

8. Quit buying things when we know we can't afford them! If you don't
have self control, then quit going to the stores! Quit charging things,
especially when you don't NEED them!

9. Quit staying in unhealthy relationships! It is not okay for people to
verbally or physically abuse you! So quit lying to yourself! It is not
okay to stay in the marriage for the children! Ask them and they will
tell you that they really would prefer to see you happy and that the
misery you and your spouse/partner are living with is affecting them!

10. Quit letting family members rope you into the drama! -Start telling
them you don't want to hear it! Quit spreading the drama! Quit calling
other relatives and telling them about your cousin or aunt! Go back to
#5 minding your own business should be enough to keep you busy!

11. Quit trying to change people! IT DOESN'T WORK! Quit cussing people
out when you know that they are just being the miserable and jealous
people that they are!

12. Quit the job you hate! Start pursuing your passion. Find the job
that fuels your passion BEFORE you quit!

13. Quit volunteering for things that you aren't getting any personal
fulfillment from anymore! Quit volunteering for things and then failing
to follow through with your commitment!

14. Quit listening to the naysayers! Quit watching the depressing news
if you are going to live in the doom and gloom of it all!

15. Quit making excuses about why you are where you are or why you can't
do what you want to do!

16. Quit waiting on others to give you the answers...and start finding
the answers for yourself! If what you are doing isn't working for
you...then quit it!

17. Quit settling and start making your dreams a reality!- Quit being
afraid and START LIVING YOUR LIFE! CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT! If you want
something different than what you have had in the past....you must quit
doing what you have done before and DO something different! JUST QUIT IT
...... and START DOING something to create the experience you want!

Do Something About It

Do something about it
+++++++++++++++++++

Are you frustrated and burned out? What are you going to do
about it?

Is there something you really want to achieve? What are you
going to do about it?

Have you just become aware of an incredible opportunity?
What are you going to do about it?

What are you going to do today, right this moment? What
actions will you take to end your frustration, to achieve
your dream, to take advantage of opportunity?

Success and achievement depend not on how much you complain,
or on your ability to garner sympathy from others, but on
what you do. And right now is the time to start.

Go ahead and move beyond the frustration, begin to work
toward the dream, and make the most of your best
possibilities. Go ahead right now and do something positive
and effective about it.

What you must

When you must, you will. What you truly value, you find a way
to make more abundant.

That's why it is so critically important to celebrate the
unique beauty of who you are. That's why being thankful for
every little thing will create a life that's overflowing
with abundance.

Living by pretense is not really living. The real person
inside is eager to bring to life the very best of everything
that means anything to you.

Instead of trying to fit in, seek to fill out the best of
your possibilities. Instead of wondering how little effort
you can get by with, discover how much unique value you can
create.

Every opportunity you act upon creates even more and bigger
and better opportunities. The more focus and diligence and
persistence and commitment you put into life, the more
outstanding it becomes.

The best-paying job you can ever have is the job of being
the real you. Know what you must do and do it, and life is
rich indeed.

Being a Leader

No leader can be truly effective if she/he is not well informed about the critical issues which affect her/his learning community. We strongly believe that the implementation of extraordinary expectations which are placed on our son’s in sports should also be placed on them as intellectual citizens. This in turn will help equip the constituents of African-American males and the students themselves become civically engaged, socially conscious, academically proficient, and extremely confident in their ability. We also want the youth to see themselves as viable agents for social/community change.

Thought of the day; let’s examine Carter G. Woodson’s quote

“If you can control a man’s thinking, you don’t have to worry about his actions. If you can determine what a man thinks you do not have worry about what he will do. If you can make a man believe that he is inferior, you don’t have to compel him to seek an inferior status, he will do so without being told and if you can make a man believe that he is justly an outcast, you don’t have to order him to the back door, he will go to the back door on his own and if there is no back door, the very nature of the man will demand that you build one.”

If you just examine this quote and historically examine the effects of the distortion of the truth from the period of the pyramids to the modern day pulpit, one must consciously chose to ignore written and unwritten history. My purpose is not to deliver a history lesson but to disquiet your intellect to address a global concern. With the alarming statistics we’re facing in the early 21st century, the solutions may be found in historical clarification to the disputes of the present and provide the future study of our lineage in the past. His conception to understanding and reassuring his need to fill the missing historical self-motivated purposelessness, can and only will enhance the barriers which have been strategically placed through the hypothesis of inclusion / assimilation theory of the contributions of African / African American males, in the representation of world history. But, that’s one component of many phases need to develop a male of self fulfilling purpose

The Mirror

Educators have chosen the path of healing and developing souls, so imagine the most demanding tribulation you currently face. Now visualize that it's not you, but someone else who is going through that test, what counsel would you give that person? If you could separate your preconceived opinion based on your knowledge base, and step back and look at your situation as an unbiased observer, would you look at it any differently?

When will the number become high enough for us to stop doing nothing and start doing something?

On any given day, nearly 23 percent of all young Black men ages 16 to 24 who have dropped out of high school are in jail, prison, or a juvenile justice institution in America, according to a disturbing new national report released today on the dire economic and social consequences of not graduating from high school.
Dropouts become incarcerated at a shocking rate: 23 of every 100 young Black male dropouts were in jail on any given day in 2006-07 compared to only 6 to 7 of every 100 Asian, Hispanic or White dropouts. While young Black men are disproportionately affected, the report found that this crisis cuts across racial and ethnic lines. Male dropouts of all races were 47 times more likely to be incarcerated than their peers of a similar age who had graduated from a four-year college or university.

Quote of the Day

The true authentic examination of one’s live is how you take each experience and make it a thing of worth & magnificence. Everything you go through has some significance, cherish each moment as if it’s the memoirs of your legacy. The highest qualities of one’s success and character must be earned. Never purchased!
